THE SIXTH SENSE THAT MISLED

Man is the only creature bestowed with the envious sixth sense, the ability to think. Man’s sixth sense had a potential of ensuring a happy contented life for all living creatures on the face of Earth. Unfortunately, it is this sixth sense that facilitated the pursuit of never ending comfort and ease of life. It is this same sixth sense that contributed to the development of technology and social systems. The ever evolving technological advancements are seen as a forward development in all societies.

These are apparently desired and pursued in the belief that it does well for man. However anything without philosophical considerations is a bad precedent. With state leaders constantly encouraging technological development, they are all blinded to the setbacks associated with it. You cannot make a mound without digging a pit.

The sixth sense that was capable of establishing and controlling life systems for all on Earth, including that of plants and animals had unfortunately been led astray. Man began to be driven by his five other senses, which ultimately led to redefining life on Earth. The five senses of sight, smell, taste, sound, and feel was ruling each man. Set on a mission of satisfying these senses, man was led along a path of development, which would have no end point. It was during the course of this gratifying the senses that occupations took off. Each of these occupations was soon split into specializations with research and development incorporated into each of them.

So fundamentally every development in any field and the professions it gave rise to, were in response to the demands of man for gratifying his senses. This was a path to ruin, given the fact that the Earth is a limited entity; its natural resources were limited.  Technological development meant depletion of certain vital resources, beyond the ability of the Earth to replenish it.  Nature had aided the development of the sixth sense in man to help in controlling his five other senses, so as to live in harmony with all creatures on Earth. Ironically it only facilitated the wishes of these senses.

Today, on the surface of the Earth, life for an average common man is a nightmare. Bred in an economic system where money is everything, man interprets everything in terms of profit and loss. Constant development has become a key to development. New products and services need to evolve so as to provide employment for those entering the job market. This has led to several obscure and risky professions, which men carry on each day.

The fundamental qualities of man have eroded. Man has become insensitive to the pain and sufferings of fellow men. This is in stark contrast to animal instincts where a herd or a flock comes together when one of its own is in danger. When a lion attacks a bull, the others in the herd don’t just run away, they put up a fight together. Today when man is faced with several threats, the inability of man to control his senses and his continued progress in this direction is the biggest threat. And for the sixth sense of man that failed to lead him in the right direction, this is something that it would not reconcile with.  The fact that we were all born to live is an acknowledged one. However ‘This is not the way we should live’ would soon ring everywhere, when options run out.
