The recent controversy of the claim of Kamal Hassan’s party MNM that Tamil Nadu BJP President Smt. Tamilisai Soundararajan enrolling has brought to the fore the enrollment procedures adopted by this party. The party enrolls members on a dubious procedure whereby you can be enrolled by anyone who knows your email id, only if the enrolling person has a mobile phone. This means if you have any VVIP’s official or personal email id, which is very easy to get, you can easily enroll him or her as a member of this party.
So you go their website, register anyone by their name and email address, and give your phone number. This party will send you an OTP to your mobile phone rather than the email id in the registration form. With this OTP you can complete registration of your victim as a member of this party, with the victim being unaware of him or her being enrolled.
Once registered, this party can sent promotional mails to the victim’s email address on the claim that he or she had registered it. The fact that the party enrolls without verifying email addresses and uses it, could be a very deliberate one too. It needs to be determined whether this is a deliberate effort or a stupid registration procedure, made by people who want to put in a procedure without a purpose.
Also contrary to the party’s claim that there is an exit button, in reality there is none. Phone calls to the party’s office on how to withdraw party membership drew blank with the lady operator saying she will check with the IT team and quickly hanging up the phone.
The MNM party should take the matter very serious, and rectify loopholes immediately. Claiming a national party’s state president to have enrolled as a primary member of another party is a matter of huge enormity. This act has not only tarnished the BJP party’s image but also the credibility and honor of a woman in high position. As this registration procedure could be a nuisance and anyone could be subjected to membership without his or her knowledge, it is important that law enforcement look into this closely.
